Objectives:
At the completion of this course, the healthcare professional will be able to:
- Describe the economic and human cost of COPD in the United States and in the world.*
- Identify factors that contribute to the development and exacerbation of COPD.*
- Describe measures to prevent COPD.*
- Discuss evidence based medical and physical therapy for decreasing morbidity and mortality from COPD.*
- Establish a best practices office or hospital based modified pulmonary rehabilitation program including utilizing referral resources where available.
- Conduct an outcome study of changes in the attendees’ COPD patients’ exercise tolerance, ability to do activities of daily living, and quality of life using three and six month follow up data
- Implement a clinical practice assessment of their office or hospital based COPD treatment and rehabilitation program.
- Function as a member of the healthcare team to effect better patient outcomes.*

Kathleen Davis MD Biosketch
Dr. Kathleen Davis is a Board Certified internal medicine physician with over 20 years experience in clinical medicine, health education, and medical practice management. She has worked in various health care settings in the Untied States, Uganda, Guatemala and Laos . Dr. Davis earned her Diploma in Tropical Diseases and Hygiene from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine in 2007. From 1996-2005, she was a clinical attending and Co-director of Outpatient Graduate Medical Education for Madigan Army Medical Center . Presently she is a consultant in health education, and an attending physician at the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic (Toppenish).
